Spritz Anyone?

Ok, so typically you’ll see these drinks in the summertime but if ever there was a drink that is synonymous with Rome or Italy in general, it’s a spritz. After you’ve been sweating in the mediterranean sun and all you need is a nice cold and refreshing drink with a kick, either a Campari or Aperol spritz is the thing to ask for just as long as you’ve acquired the taste for bitters.


If you’re coming to Rome after the summer season has ended and the thought of going outside in the cold to grab an ice cold drink has you scratching your head. We’ve got the recipe so you can make a spritz right at home. You can sip away under the warmth of your covers.



Campari Spritz

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Prosecco or other sparkling wine

  • 1 ounce club soda

  • 2 ounces Campari

  • Garnish: 1 large green olive, or 3 small olives on a pick

Directions

  1. Fill rocks glass with ice. Add sparkling wine, club soda, and Campari. Stir gently. Garnish with olives.


Aperol Spritz

Ingredients

  • Ice

  • 4 1/4 ounces brut Prosecco

  • 2 1/2 ounces Aperol

  • 3/4 ounce club soda

  • 1 lime wheel for garnish

Directions

  1. Fill a Collins glass or champagne flute with ice. Pour the prosecco over, then add Aperol and club soda. Garnish with lime wheel.
